Can the ceramic products be used for food consumption?

Yes, they are lead free and have been fired at high temperatures which protect them from absorbing food or liquids. However please do not place these products directly over flame or on an electric burner.

 

Can the ceramic be used in the microwave and dishwasher?

Yes and Yes.

 

Is pewter safe for serving food?

Yes, Mexican pewter primarily consists of aluminum and is safe for serving food. However as with any metal product we do not suggest you store food for extended periods of time.

 

Please note: some highly acidic foods such as tomatoes or citric fruits may stain your pewter. In order to prevent this from happening we suggest you lightly coat the piece with vegetable oil before serving food.

 

Can the pewter be used in the dishwasher?

We do not suggest you place pewter in the dishwasher due to the harsh detergents and high water temperatures. To best preserve the lustre hand washing is recommended.

 

Does pewter need to be polished?

No. You can use woap and water. We don't recommend dishwashing because of the harsh chemicals. After time if you may use a 'pewter polish' to regain its shine, however this will not be necessary as your pewter will not tarnish.
